Christmas 2008 Photos

We're a little late getting these pictures posted from Christmas in Ohio. We had a great time.

Cara has started crawling this past week. See is also much more vocal (mostly "da-da"... Daddy perhaps?). Enjoy the photos.

Here is Cara working hard to open her first gift on Christmas Eve (a teddy bear from Aunt Pam and Uncle Jerry).

Here are several other Piland family photos with Cara.

These two buddies had a great time during our visit.

Here is Cara's first cooking lessons -- baking Christmas cookies with "Nana".
And lastly we thought this was cute... Cara's photo shoot.

Snow in Houston???

Can you believe that on December 10th Houston got over 2" of snow? We still can't believe it. This was the earliest on record (trace reported in the 1940's). But the story didn't end there. Houston was in gridlock the following morning as many bridges and overpasses where shutdown due to ice... most of us were in our cars for 3-4 hours waiting for the sun to thaw the ice before traffic started moving.

Here is our proof.

Here is a picture of Passa making a snowball (seconds before throwing it at me).
...and here are the mandatory Cara photos. Cara now eats with us while sitting in her high chair.

Here is one of her in an Elmo track suit.

P.S. We're leaving for Ohio tomorrow!

Thanksgiving

Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving dinner. This year we spent a relaxed evening with the Malloys (our friends Mark and Shelly that attended our wedding).

Cara is starting to sit on her own now (with a little help). We are very proud of Cara's first art project at day care... we think her handprint is supposed to be a turkey. We'll have to remember to ask her in a few more months when she is able to talk.

Cara is getting ready for her Christmas trip up to Ohio! Here is a picture of our little snowflake.

Cara is 5 months old

Thought we would update the site with a couple more pictures. Here is a photo we took while Cara was in a webcam session with her grandparents. She is quite popular in Ohio and Bangkok, Thailand.

Here is another photo of our "star" showing off for the camera.

Happy Halloween Punkin

Happy Halloween.

Although Cara may look like a little acorn in this first picture, she officially was dressed up as a pumpkin this year. We've included some pictures of her neighborhood friends as well -- we weren't shy to ask for some candy along the way.

Cara is four months old!

Things seem to now be getting back in order for us. Cara has been doing well socializing with her new friends in day care. Cara's latest trick is that along with a lot of cooing she likes to touch her toes. Here are some pictures that may give you an idea of how big she is getting. Last Friday she just had a check-up:
13 lb 1 oz (50th percentile)
25.25 inches (70th percentile)
Looks like she is still growing.

We're home... and we have power!

We have been back home since last Sunday Sept 21. Our area was hit pretty hard (trees and power lines down) as it appears the eye of the storm passed over our house. However, other than some roof and fence repair we really came out of this rather well.

Fortunately the worst of the surge just missed getting up into Galveston Bay. It looks like the water level rose up into our yard, but didn't rise above the slab... it doesn't get any closer than that. The scene in the Seabrook area is not a pretty one (beached boats on the side of the road, colapsed coastal homes a mile or two from our house).

There really are many stories to tell, so for now I'm just going to post a couple of my favorite pictures of the moment Passa first found that we had power restored last Tuesday (I got her good):

"Passa, hold up Cara for a picture of her after her first day from daycare..."

...notice Passa's reaction to the lights.

Yeah!

"Cara, are you happy we have power?"
